Summary:
Roz opened her eyes and watched the otters skitter away. She did not know where she was, who she was, where she came from, and why she was here. All she knew was that she was a robot stuck on an island alone. The only thing around her was nature. The mist from the ocean, the otters that just skittered away, the dark trees, rocks, shrubs, ponds, and curious strange animals she did not understand. But that didn't stop her from trying to make friends and after a terrible accident, everything changed forever. Its up to her to find a way to fit into nature, a place where as a man made piece of technology, she doesn't really fit.
Word of Caution:
Unfortunately, at the end of the book, there is some violence that might traumatize young children. The robots are portrayed as humans with feelings and thoughts. When some robots with bad intentions come to take Roz away fighting breaks out. Robot arms and legs are pulled off, guns shoot through chests, and dying robots whisper last words.
Positive Notes:
This is a book that every robot-loving child wants to read. Peter Brown put together two unique things that not many people think can be put together, robots and nature. This book is a fun, enjoyable, and thrilling adventure and it will not be soon forgotten.
Who:
Great for children who love robots and nature aged 7-12.
